Broadcasting Software​

Tip: Most apps offer both Icecast and Shoutcast modes. For Toxic.FM, use the exact credentials you’re given. In many apps, “Address/Server” = Host and “Mountpoint” = Mount Name.

  • Mixxx — Free, open-source DJ suite with live broadcasting (Icecast/Shoutcast) built-in.
    • Linux, macOS, Windows; FOSS.
  • BUTT — Lightweight live encoder; pairs well with other playout apps. Supports Icecast and Shoutcast.
    • Linux, macOS, Windows; FOSS.
  • SAM Cast — Commercial encoder; connect using MP3 and Icecast 2.
    • Windows; Proprietary.
  • RadioBOSS — Commercial playout + encoder; supports Icecast and Shoutcast.
    • Windows; Proprietary.
  • PlayIt Live — Free playout system; commonly paired with BUTT for streaming.
    • Windows; Proprietary (free).
